MIS4TEL papers - Respond by 1st Feb

Dear all, We had a meeting on Friday about our contributions to MIS4TEL. We propose to prepare and submit the below papers: 1. Paper 1 (main conference): Report on findings from Year 1 school implementations. 2. Paper 2 (workshop paper): Present and explain the rationale of creating the Extendt2 versions of tools as well as the production of the Exten(dt)2 digital design thinking model 3. Paper 3 (main conference): Report on the process of co-designing the LA dashboard with teachers Next steps: Paper 1: Thea/Sagun will prepare a first outline. @Carina Girvan<mailto:girvanc@tcd.ie> would you have capacity to lead on this given that data is likely to come from your deliverable? Fyi: a ppt for the slot on a critical review of DT: towards the ExtenDT2 workshop on Design Thinking in Education

Verevi concerning the critical reflections of employing DT in schools so far (i.e. without digital technologies) if u agree we could discuss it as part (a slot) of the workshop or even in a special meeting or both in it you will find links to videos concerning and showcasing DT in schools (which can be used in the workshop addressing teachers), the list of references from which the review was drawn and a last slide with some bullets pointing to ways in which we can use this info to show why the extendt2 'solution' can address the criticisms and go far beyond the state of the art for DT in schools there's 3 layers, the first slide (n.2) is the theme titles, then another layer (nos. 3-6) with one page for each theme and then analytical slides with the points in each theme of course, the extendt2 'solution' is something to be built and refined by all so consider this as a clunky start if u like we can undertake to write up an academic version of this review and include it in a respective deliverable but this will take some time as u can imagine so - thanks to Alkistis best regards c btw - Alkisti's expertise is educational sociology ps - maybe we should do the same for digital media in education, i.e. a critical review and show how the extendt2 solution addresses some of those problems? just a thought. this would mean that extendt2 addresses the problems of each of the DTs individually by means of bringing them together in a unique form of integration to form dt2

Journal paper - pre/post survey analysis

Dear all, Hope you are well, in the roadmap of publications doc https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a8eOpdMNTXBlxsRbRx2JRbQKVLNU0Yj1PxRFO4x… I expressed interest in writing a paper about: “What is the impact of engaging with design thinking on students' critical thinking, reflection, and empathy?” I’m thinking of collating survey data from across partners and conduct a statistical analysis of pre/post responses considering for contextual factors such as country, school type, student performance, age, gender. This will address some of the criticism we received from mis4TEL reviewers last year regarding the paper we published and which we addressed by adding the below: “In addition, we aim to address two limitations of this study: a) analyse data considering for the sample’s heterogeneity e.g, different ages, backgrounds, school type, locations, enabling comparisons between e.g., different types of schools, and an understanding of the conditions under which the proposed intervention may work (or not) well” Would you be interested in contributing? Pls let me know and I can draft a plan with activities and meetings to take this forward. Best, Thea

Dear all, As we are finalising the Framework and Guidelines, we would like to invite you to share your reflections and inputs based on your Year 3 activities.
