Dear all,
I am pleased to announce that a post-pandemic edition of a report summarizing European SI/PASS/PAL programmes now is available. Thank you so much to all that contributed to this revised report! I have attached the new version of the report. It will be updated continuously when new information is available on the European Centre for SI-PASS web-site: SI-PASS in Europe | European Centre for SI-PASS (lu.se)<https://www.si-pass.lu.se/en/about-si-pass/si-pass-europe> . The report has also been published on ResearchGate if you want a more stable link: DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.18513.30564<http://dx.doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.18513.30564>
Some pieces of info from the report:
* Based on contributions from SI/PASS/PAL supervisors at 74 Universities and one High School in Europe.
* Estimated that 88 HEIs and two High Schools have active SI/PASS/PAL programmes (the High School number is probably higher)
* At present, there are eleven countries in Europe (mostly in the north-western part) with SI/PASS/PAL schemes.
Based on the collected info, we can make the following estimates (based on the estimate with 90 active SI/PASS/PAL programmes):
· there are ~384 trained supervisors actively involved in the SI/PASS/PAL programmes,
· approximately 7,400 SI/PASS/PAL-leaders are employed each year,
· on average the leaders hold about 15 sessions during an academic year being 0,5-3 hours in length,
· there are ~2,285 courses supported by SI/PASS/PAL each year,
· the number of students having access to SI/PASS/PAL per year is ~132,000,
· the number of students attending at least one time per year is ~67,900 (51 % of those having access),
· the average attendance[1] on SI/PASS/PAL sessions is ~31 %,
· the average number of students at a session is ~11,
· the number of contact hours is ~730,000 during an academic year. (Contact hours are the total number of hours students visit sessions during a year).
Compared to the previous edition of the Status report for European SI-PASS programmes published in 2018, the number of active programmes has increased (from 75 to 90) and new countries like Belgium, Netherlands and Northern Cyprus / Turkey have been welcomed to the European SI-PASS community. Besides adding new programmes over the last five years, there are also a few that ceased to operate. The Corona pandemic in 2020-2022 was a challenge for SI-PASS programmes and it seems like recruitment of leaders and attendance at sessions generally suffered a bit as a result both in the pandemic years but also afterwards. It will be interesting to observe if recruitment of leaders and attendance at sessions improves in the coming years.

Hi everyone,
Really sorry for this, but it seems that there was a full-stop after one of the links in the CfP, which meant that they've not been accessible! The email is now re-sent with working links. It seems like there might be an issue if you click on them, but if they're copied and pasted it works.
“PALS/SI-PASS: The Leader Experience”
Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, 5th-6th June 2023
Keynote speaker: Linnea Wallen (Lecturer in Sociology)
Individual paper, panel and workshop contributions are welcomed for ‘PALS/SI-PASS: The Leader Experience’ to be held in-person at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, on June 5th-6th 2023. This conference explores the uses and impact of academic peer learning and support in Higher Education contexts, with a specific focus on leader experiences.
The SI-PASS/PAL model is a globally established provision that aims to support students throughout their educational experience. A growing body of literature acknowledges the impact of Peer Assisted Learning on students’ social and academic experiences, particularly in relation to Widening Participation (WP) and student retention. In line with PAL's focus on WP, and the centrality of student perspectives and experiences, the conference organisers welcome contributions from student leaders that explore Peer Assisted Learning provision within Higher Education. We invite contributions in the format of presentations, workshops, or posters, on a range of topics including but not limited to:
· Peer Assisted Learning and student wellbeing
* Equality, diversity and inclusion in Peer Learning contexts
* Managing change, in times of COVID-19 and/or the aftermath
· Division/field-specific peer learning practices (e.g., Peer Learning in the Arts and Humanities; Peer Learning in the Social and/or Life Sciences)
· Transferrable skills for career progression
· Peer Assisted Learning and integration into Higher Education
· Peer Assisted learning and Widening Participation
· Impact of leadership on personal development
· Impact of peer learning on academic success
· Students as partners: coordinator support
Please submit your proposal abstracts of up to 250 words and a bio of up to 100 wordsby 10th April 2023 by filling out the following form: https://forms.gle/dutZ3FT2MtSQfL7x8
Any questions can be directed to pals(a)qmu.ac.uk<mailto:pals@qmu.ac.uk>. Please also register your interest here: https://forms.gle/SV9nHzEH3TjSqcnr5
The formal registration will be sent out at a later date. We very much look forward to hearing from you, and welcoming you to Queen Margaret University, Scotland!
Best wishes,
On the behalf of the Organising Committee: The PALS Team at Queen Margaret University
