Deadlines: Proposals due by Tuesday 28th November, register by Monday 11th December
Please use the registration link<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=kLsAqf6UWEaLNN1yCExQZJD…> and consider submitting a proposal<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd4AAGXi5bcJO4oC4kg6OjDMIlirHtBaZN…> to present a session on an aspect of peer practice, or a live workshop which enables delegates to develop particular skills or insights.
The Association for Peer Learning and Support, and the European Centre for SI-PASS, are delighted to invite you to attend this in-person International Forum for Peer Learning and Support on Monday 25th March 2024.
Building on the highly successful in-person Forum held at the Global Banking School in March 2023, this promises to be another exciting event during which colleagues can meet up in person! At the last Forum we welcomed participants from Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, UK, and the United States. Presentations and discussion forums included topics about moving peer learning online, building peer communities, the role of peer learning in widening access and transition to university, and developing student resilience and wellbeing.
Through attending this 2024 Forum event, you can join like-minded practitioners and students for stimulating sessions, debates and discussions about many aspects of peer learning and peer support. It will be an opportunity to experience the fantastic TU Dublin campus in Dublin, Ireland. We will ensure there is plenty of opportunity for us to reflect on peer learning and support successes this year and share some of the challenges as we continue to move between online, hybrid and in-person learning and teaching environments.
We look forward to seeing you in March 2024!
Best wishes on behalf of the Forum Organisers:

Dear SI-PASS/PAL SUPERVISORS,
Please share the following invitation with your SI-PASS/PAL LEADERS:.
It is time for this semester's second online fika for SI-PASS/PAL leaders, hosted by the European Centre for SI-PASS: next Thursday, 16th of November, at 2-3.30 pm GMT/ 3-4.30 pm CET.
Based on wishes from our previous fika, the theme of this fika will be "Tangible Ways to Deepen Learning Within SI Sessions and Make them Fun!" and it will be delivered by our colleague Jill Jaworski from the Canadian SI Center. Our hope is that you will be inspired to try some new techniques and methods in your SI-PASS sessions. The fika is an informal get-together, and this will be an interactive session where you have a chance to meet other leaders from Europe. If you'd like to join the fika, please register here: Online leader 'fika' | European Centre for SI-PASS (lu.se)<https://www.si-pass.lu.se/en/si-pass-leader-resources/online-leader-fika>

Hi,
The European Centre for SI-PASS collaborate with regional SI-PASS centres around the world on a study about SI-PASS Leader training and support. The objective of the study is to find out how the current SI-PASS leader training and support looks like at HEIs in different countries and further develop guidelines to practitioners based on collected information through a survey. We would therefore be really grateful if you could respond to the survey (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdPEhKekhSVLMNAhpcL2EEIFibtn_JTWnq…<https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.goog…> ) within the next two weeks - at latest on October 30. Many thanks in advance.
Below you will find an e-mail from the director of the International Center for Supplemental Instruction (Jess Pearson) that host the survey. There she gives more information about it.
Best wishes,
Joakim Malm, European Centre for SI-PASS

Hello, my name is Jessica Pearson. I am the Executive Director of the International Center for Supplemental Instruction and a staff member of UMKC. I am collaborating with a team conducting a research study to understand the ways we can best train and support SI-PASS Leaders. The survey invites active SI-PASS Supervisors from universities world-wide. Aggregate data gain from the survey will be shared at conference, trainings, publications, and our SI-PASS regional websites.
The survey will be available from October 16, 2023 to October 30, 2023. If you choose to be in this study, you will be asked to complete a brief survey that would take about 10-minutes to complete. Your participation is entirely voluntary; you may skip any questions that you don't want to answer or choose to stop participating at any time.
Any participant who completes the study and would like to be entered into a drawing for a FREE SI Supervisor training will be asked to provide an email address. Any personally identifiable information collected during the survey will be kept strictly confidential and stored in a password protected University of Missouri System drive. You will not be identified in any reports about this research.
Do you have any questions about the research study? Please contact Jessica Pearson at icsi(a)umkc.edu<mailto:icsi@umkc.edu>. If you have questions or concerns about your rights as a research participant, you can call the UMKC Research Compliance at 816-235-5927.

Dear SI-PASS Community
If you have experience in designing, coordinating, and overseeing peer learning or peer support in higher education, you are invited to take part in the following research study based on your involvement. Before you decide whether or not to take part, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully, and see the Information Sheet attached.
The Association for Peer Learning and Support is carrying out research as part of an initiative to update the previous AdvanceHE Mapping Student-Led Peer Learning in the UK publication (Keenan, 2014<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.advance-he.ac.uk/knowledge-hub/mappi…>). This updated research seeks to broaden the scope beyond the UK, and seeks to understand best practices in the co-creation of peer learning and peer support, including an understanding of processes for impact evaluation of peer learning and support, and evaluation of the impact of peer learning and support on student success factors, specifically retention, attainment and employability, marginalised student groups, well-being and belonging.
*We welcome all iterations of peer support and learning; this includes, but is not limited to: Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL), Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS), Supplementary Information (SI), Student Mentoring, Peer Coaching and Peer Tutoring. For the purpose of the survey, we will use consistent language and use the term 'Peer Learning and Support' but recognise that this will vary across institutions. In addition to this, we will use the term 'Peer Leader' when referring to the student role itself, but do ask you to share the terms you use within your institution (E.g. PAL Leader, PASS Mentor, Peer Supporter, Student Mentor, Champion, Adviser, Ambassador, Rep,Tutor, etc).
How to participate:
We are collecting data via a JISC Online Survey<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/brighton.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/mapping-pee…>
The closing date for responses is Tuesday 31st October 2023
Within the survey there is a link to complete a short qualitative case study<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/uclan.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/case-study-map…> of your peer learning or peer support scheme.
The closing date for case study submissions is Wednesday 15th November 2023.
Thank you, best wishes

Call for Editor(s): Journal of Peer Learning
The Journal of Peer Learning<http://ro.uow.edu.au/ajpl/> is an open-access, annual refereed journal established in 2008. The journal disseminates scholarly work about peer learning in a variety of contexts, with an emphasis on peer learning in higher education. More specifically, the journal seeks to publish scholarly research that investigates innovations in peer learning including the implementation of programs in varied organisational and cultural contexts as well as evaluations of such programs to provide an evidential basis for peer learning activities. This is an exciting time for the journal as it is in the process of being migrated to a new platform and institution.
The journal is currently accepting applications for the role of Editor. We will also consider this being a shared role between two Editors, so please indicate if your preference is to be a Co-Editor. (Co-)Editors serve a three-year term and can anticipate managing the editing process for one journal volume per year at this stage. This involves performing an initial review of manuscripts to evaluate their fit with the aims and scope of the journal, before assigning the articles to one of the journal's four Associate Editors, who will then send manuscripts out for double-blind review, and working with the (Co-)Editor(s) to make a final decision regarding each paper. Finally, the (Co-)Editor(s) work closely with the Copy-Editor to finalise the yearly journal issue(s).
(Co-)Editor(s) should hold advanced degrees (Ph.D. or equivalent preferred); have a minimum of five years' experience in higher education; have specific experience with, and knowledge of, peer learning; be affiliated with an accredited college or university; and have expertise in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research design and analysis. Further, (Co-)Editor(s) should commit to making a decision and assigning manuscripts to Associate Editors for review within two weeks of receipt. Finally, (Co)Editor(s) should understand the importance of their dual role of gatekeeper and shaper of research in the field of peer learning and should therefore facilitate a rigorous review of manuscripts submitted for publication while also offering constructive and encouraging feedback to mentor fellow researchers and Associate Editors.
Individuals who meet these qualifications are invited to submit the following information to Associate Professor Henk Huijser (h.huijser(a)qut.edu.au<mailto:h.huijser@qut.edu.au>).
* Expression of interest (2 pages maximum), including a list of specific scholarly interests related to peer learning (e.g., peer learning in the first-year experience, peer learning in academic contexts, peer learning in student affairs) and interest in reviewing studies employing qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed methods
* Current curriculum vitae (1 page maximum)
Note: The role of (Co-)Editor is considered a voluntary leadership and service role and therefore does not come with a stipend.
The deadline for receipt of completed nomination packages is COB (AEST) Monday 18 September 2023.
