Stockholms universitet ger hösten 2026 doktorandkursen "From Text to Tech: Digital Literacy and the Transformation of History" (7,5 hp), som erbjuder en fördjupad introduktion till digital historia och digital humaniora.
Kursen kombinerar kritiska teoretiska perspektiv med praktiskt arbete med digitala metoder och verktyg. Genom seminarier och workshops utvecklar deltagarna färdigheter inom bland annat datamodellering, databaser, AI-tillämpningar och datorstödd analys, med utgångspunkt i de egna avhandlingsprojekten. Kursen riktar sig särskilt till doktorander som vill stärka sin metodologiska verktygslåda och arbeta mer självständigt och reflekterat med digitala källor, verktyg och infrastrukturer.
Undervisningen ges i första hand på svenska, men genomförs på engelska vid behov. Kursen ges på campus i två intensiva block 9–10 september och 29–30 september 2026, vilket även möjliggör deltagande för doktorander från andra lärosäten.

Please find enclosed a call for papers for the workshop "Growing Up in the Early Modern World: Children, Institutions and Belonging", to be held on 26 November 2026 at Macquarie University, Sydney (with hybrid participation available).
The workshop explores childhood within institutional settings in the early modern world, with particular attention to care, education, discipline, and belonging.

7th Digital History in Sweden Conference, 5–6 November 2026, Malmö University
The 7th Digital History in Sweden Conference invite paper, panel, roundtable and poster proposals on any aspect of digital history, while we especially encourage presentations related to the conference theme, Hic sunt dracones. Submissions presenting project ideas or sketching emerging work are welcome. Presentations should be circa 10–20 minutes long, in a Scandinavian language or in English. Posters will be on display for the duration of the conference. The conference will be held over two days, 5–6 November 2026, on-site at Malmö University. (The date has had to be changed from our save-the-date announcement. Apologies for any inconvenience.) There is no conference fee.

Submissions must contain:

We are pleased to announce a new PhD student course offered by Uppsala University’s Swedish Institute for North American Studies (SINAS) in Fall 2026: Doing American Studies in Europe (7,5 hp).
Does your research deal with North America? If so, the field of American studies can provide an international and interdisciplinary context for your scholarship. This PhD student course examines the emergence of American studies as a research field, and explores its future development through the ongoing research of the course participants. The course is offered by the Swedish Institute for North American Studies (SINAS) at Uppsala University. It features a workshop in Uppsala and a three-day visit to Berlin, Germany.
The course is open to PhD students at Swedish universities within the humanities and social sciences working on any topic or theme relating to the United States and/or Canada, including its history, culture, society, and politics, as well as global connections and transnational relations.

Apply to the course by submitting 1) a short description (max. 500 words) of your dissertation project and a brief motivation to why you wish to join the course, and 2) a letter from your main supervisor attesting to your status as an active PhD student and stating that the course can be completed as part of your PhD program.
