Iowa State Library tänker helt rätt. Man köper det man behöver, inte bara från Elsevier utan från alla andra förlag. Så gjorde man på min tid. Det var på den tiden man skapade relevanta samlingar som stämde överens med vad låntagarna önskade. Man slösade inte bort pengarna på skräp eller överlät förvärvsansvaret på ett konsortium. Iowa State Library har återtagit kontrollen över kostnader och innehåll. The new agreement moves the Library away from Elsevier’s overpriced and financially unsustainable Big Deal journal package and back to individual journal subscriptions.
