Dear all,
Spring season’s final Nordic Speech Research Forum webinar takes place on Tue, May 12th at
14:00 - 15:00 (Helsinki/Eastern European Summer Time EEST; UCT+3). You are warmly welcome
to join the event via our website

Phonetic learning of non-native speech features: Evidence from behavioral and brain
activity experiments
Piia Astikainen, University of Jyväskylä
News:
* Zoom had wider problems on the day of our previous webinar. We were able to hear
Míša Hejná’s presentation “The phonetic construction of good and evil from a whole-larynx
perspective” but could only discuss via chat. Some had problems accessing Zoom. If you
missed the presentation, please find the materials on our website.
* The Nordic Speech Research Forum webinars continue in the autumn. Season start is on
Sept 16th at 16:00–17:00 (Helsinki/EEST). We have the pleasure to welcome a special guest:
Professor Alice Henderson from Grenoble University will give a presentation titled
“Listener training on L2 accents for non-academic university staff”.
* Who would you like to hear present their research? You can suggest speakers at
https://forms.office.com/e/4DjYzpbxVp.
The Nordic Speech Research Forum is organized by the Speech and Speech Research Special
Interest Group of the Finnish Association for Applied Linguistics (AFinLA) and the Nordic
Network for L2 Pronunciation (NNL2P). The current coordinators are Riikka Ullakonoja
(University of Jyväskylä) and Elina Vasu (Tampere University).
Best regards,
Riikka Ullakonoja & Elina Vasu
