Du kommer att ingå i teamet för bibliotekets webb i syfte att utveckla vår webbplats. Därutöver ingår att arbeta med biblioteksservice till kommunens invånare via Mobibblan (bibliotekets bokbuss) samt via tjänstgöring i bibliotekets informationsdisk i Kulturmagasinet.

If you are interested in how users truly experience your library then you are not going to want to miss User Experience in Libraries 8, which this year is taking place in Cambridge (11-13 June 2024). If you've never been to the conference before, in brief, it's an opportunity for library workers from academic and public libraries all over the world to meet and share good practice on how to research and respond to library user needs and behaviours. UX in Libraries (or 'UXLibs' for short) is different to most conferences as it is highly interactive and always includes practical workshops and a team challenge.
In addition to the wealth of talent and knowledge of our recently announced keynote and plenary speakers (Elif Tinaztepe, Cassini Nazir, Loyce Witherspoon, Clodagh Reid, Imran Afzal and Andy Priestner) we are now excited to reveal a fantastic range of workshop leaders who will be offering hands-on workshops as part of the programme in Cambridge. >> Anyone Can Design: Bringing Teams Together with a Design Studio
Participants will learn about the 'design studio' method, a lightweight session that can happen anytime and anywhere. They will find out how to engage stakeholders and collaborators, understand what they'd like to include in a final design, and establish the consensus and trust needed - all in the early stage of a UX initiative.

>> Using games to enhance the UX process
Participants will take part in a 'Code Names' game for the purpose of user data analysis where players have to group different, random cards together by finding a common theme. Replacing these cards with user findings and then matching seemingly unrelated findings will prompt deeper thinking about research findings and help mitigate confirmation bias.

>> Lessons from a librarian turned paramedic
Participants will consider supporting distressed students or 'students in crisis' and how to build easily navigable pathways to external services or how to incorporate support services as part of the library offering. Carl, a former librarian turned paramedic will apply his new experiences and processes to his old stomping ground: the academic library environment.

>> Enhancing Organizational Empathy through Continuous UX Modelling
Participants will learn how to create a customized UX Methods Matrix aligned with their organization's UX Maturity Model to reinforce UX methodologies and gain a deeper understanding of how users interact with both physical and virtual library environments. Attendees will also consider how to be curious rather than judgmental about their community of users.

>> More than footprints: Empathy-rich behavioural mapping techniques
Participants will scope, design and administer a mapping study - a group table-top simulation - calibrated to build empathy rather than solely report behaviour. Using dice, cards, and - with any luck - laughter, they will create mapping data that tells empathy-rich stories of the user experience.

>> Body language as part of your UX toolkit to (positively) influence participants and quality of data
Participants will explore how nonverbal cues can enhance curiosity and empathy and also yield more comprehensive, nuanced and actionable UX insights. With the help of video analysis participants will gain knowledge about their own and others' body language and how it can influence their process and boost their confidence while conducting UX research.

Turning policy into practice
We are pleased to invite you to LundOnline 2024 which will take place at Lund City Hall<https://stadshallen.se/> in the centre of Lund. LundOnline is a conference, from lunch the 22nd to lunch the 24th, arranged by Lund University Library, aimed at college and university librarians and invited publishers. We hope to see participants from all the Nordic countries, which has been the case in previous years.
Turning policy into practice - opportunities and consequences for stakeholders in scholarly communication
Policies and guidelines on scholarly communication that address the access to scholarly outputs are abundant. Goals presented on a policy level are becoming increasingly harmonized. LundOnline 2024 explores the intricate processes of how publishers, academic institutions, and libraries implement guidelines and policy frameworks in scholarly communication practices. Tentative themes include different actors' engagement with policy initiatives, non-profit publishing, publishing platforms, copyright, and licensing. The conference will aim to create a dialogue between the different stakeholders within the field.

Please contact us if you would like to share your experiences on topics related to the description above. We are eager to include a diversity of formats and speakers and this year we aim to achieve an even balance between speakers representing libraries, publishers and publishing initiatives.

Biblioteken i Göteborg inför på tisdag 27 februari ett nytt system för
reservationer av böcker.
Systemet ska underlätta arbetet för bibliotekarierna och spara en hel del
papper. För
låntagarna kommer det också att fungera lite annorlunda.
– Vi kommer att spara 112 kilometer papper varje år. Dessutom har vi
bibliotekarier även skrivit
ut listor över beställda böcker. Det kommer vi heller inte att behöva göra
nu utan hanteringen
kommer att ske på en smartphone. Bara för Stadsbiblioteket innebär det att
vi sparar 100 000
pappersark varje år, säger Fredrik Larsson, bibliotekarie.
– Den manuella hanteringen av varje enskild reservation blir enklare.
Tidigare tog 30 reservationer
25 minuter att hantera. Med det nya systemet tar det fem minuter, säger
Fredrik Larsson.

Behöver vi i större utsträckning samordna det stöd vi ger och de verktyg vi rekommenderar inom forskningsdatahantering, nationellt och internationellt? • Canadian opinion on cancel culture, critical race/history, and
transgender issues is almost identical to that in Britain and the United
States;
• Canadians are less likely to call their country racist than are Americans
or Britons;
• Canadians oppose the idea of separating students in schools by race into
privileged and oppressed by 92 to 8;
• Respondents oppose teaching children that “There is no such thing as
biological sex, only gender preference” by 85 to 15;
• By an 80 to 20 margin, people oppose attempts to cancel gender-critical
feminists J.K. Rowling and Kathleen Stock;
• Canadians oppose gender reassignment surgery for under-16s by 4 to 1;
• By a 78 to 22 margin, Canadians agree that “political correctness has
gone too far”;
• By a 70 to 30 margin, Canadians oppose the idea that Canada is a racist
country and a similar share do not want this taught at school;
• By 70 to 30, people prefer a colour blind rather than colour-conscious
approach to issues in society;
• Canadians oppose removing statues of Prime Minister John A. Macdonald by
a 2 to 1 ratio;
• By a 2 to 1 margin, people said we talk too much about race in Canada;
• Respondents, by a 2 to 1 ratio, want parents informed when children under
age 16 change pronouns at school;
• Respondents, by a 2 to 1 ratio, do not want transgender women to enter
women’s sports competitions;
• More Canadians disapprove than approve of people displaying their
preferred pronouns;
• Younger Canadians are considerably more “woke” than older Canadians
(i.e., they treat as sacred marginalized race and sexual identity groups,
as well as women), though the generation gap is not as large as in Britain
or the US;
• Younger Canadians are substantially less likely than younger Britons or
Americans to describe their country as racist;
• Those who have taken diversity training are significantly more fearful of
losing their job or reputation for what they say than those who have not;
• Those who have taken diversity training are significantly more woke than
those who have not;
• Heavier social media users are significantly more woke, even controlling
for ideology, age, and numerous other factors;
• 60 percent of Canadians believe that “215 indigenous residential school
children were buried in a mass grave on school grounds in Kamloops, BC,”
with just 15 percent disagreeing;
• 39 percent of Canadians and 55 percent of Americans believe that “Native
peoples lived in peace and harmony prior to European settlement” of their
countries;
• Francophone attitudes are generally very similar to Anglophone attitudes
on culture war questions;
• Francophones are less likely than Anglophones to defend Anglo-Canadian
historical figures such as Macdonald or Egerton Ryerson and are less
concerned about threats to free speech or about political correctness;
• Francophones are more skeptical than Anglophones of gender ideology and
colour-conscious equity and diversity policies;
• Canadians are 3 times more trusting of journalists than are Britons and
over 50 percent more trusting of them than are Americans;
• These results suggest that conservative parties can gain electoral
support by defending historical figures and symbols and resisting trans
activist policies. Parties on the left are advised to deflect or defuse
such issues as they may prove electorally costly; and
• Results indicate that diversity training, as currently practiced, needs
to be reformed or abolished in organizations as it heightens employee
anxiety and advances contentious beliefs.

An award-winning children's author and illustrator, Gravel has come under
fire recently over her social media posts about the Israel-Hamas war.
Critics have argued Gravel has expressed anti-Israel views. Since the
conflict erupted in October, Gravel has accused the Israeli government of
bombing children and oppressing Palestinians.
In a recent post on X, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) said
Gravel's comments "contribute to the alarming rise in antisemitism."

The Library Performance Measurement Conference

The concept of new libraries has been conquering many Polish towns and
cities for some time - the idea of a place that is more than a lending
library. The new small cultural centers are meant to create new spaces,
following the idea of a "third place." This idea can be complemented by the
interior, as exemplified by the library in Kraśnik.

The startling rise in the publication of sham science papers has its roots
in China, where young doctors and scientists seeking promotion were
required to have published scientific papers. Shadow organisations – known
as “paper mills” – began to supply fabricated work for publication in
journals there.
The practice has since spread to India, Iran, Russia, former Soviet Union
states and eastern Europe, with paper mills supplying fabricated studies
to more and more journals

SFIS vårkonferens
Planeringen för SFIS:s vårkonferens har börjat. Temat som vi siktar mot är Informationssäkerhet.
Redan klara talare är Leif Nixon, expert på informationssäkerhet vid Combitech och Marcus Örven från Nlmblr som har en kurs i informationssäkerhet på Chalmers.
Arbetsgruppen för konferensen letar fler talare men har du talare som du drömmer om eller idéer som du tycker vi ska ta upp, tveka inte att höra av dig.
