The GEANT strategy recently approved by members and the consultation feedback will then be used by Activity Leads to produce first drafts outlining some of the key elements proposed for GN5. Member feedback will be sought in the Autumn on these first drafts. Each topic area will do this work in a slightly different way and we thought it would be useful to produce a short overview of all that is happening – if you would like to be more involved please contact the lead directly. New features added to the system <> WiFiMon is a WiFi network monitoring and performance verification system. It is capable of detecting performance issues, visualising the achievable throughput of a wireless network for each user, and providing technical information about a WiFi network (e.g., signal strength, link quality, bit rate, etc.). WiFiMon GÉANT service is continuously enhanced with new features with the main goal to improve user experience. The recently released major version 1.3.0 brought, among others, enhancements to the application security and deployment process, capability of checking if the current version is the latest WiFiMon software version available, code dependency updates and gathering statistics about the number of WiFiMon customers and the code version they are running.
