Acknowledging the reservations expressed about holding the Congress in
Dubai, we recognise the disappointment that many in the region and beyond
will feel. IFLA remains committed to finding ways to engage with and
support the librarians in MENA and the surrounding regions who were looking
forward to experiencing the vibrancy of a World Library and Information
Congress. Continuing our work in this area is vital if we are to be not
just an international, but a truly global Federation.
