PhD candidate in History of Ideas with a specialization in psychiatry

Applications are now open for a position within a highly interdisciplinary project. The doctoral student will work in close collaboration with the Centre for Medical Humanities and the Center for Preventive Psychiatry to investigate how historical discourses and contemporary practices interact and influence the legitimacy, authority and social consequences of psychiatric knowledge. The position is open to applicants with degrees in the history of ideas, history and other historical disciplines, but also to applicants with other specializations in their studies within the humanities or social sciences.
PhD positions in Sweden have very good conditions: Four years of full-time employment including all benefits (up to five years if extended for teaching and administrative duties).

This is a call for papers for the Theory and Historiography Network of the European Social Science History Conference (ESSHC). The 16th ESSHC will take place in Lyon, France, 21−24 April 2027.
We look forward to receiving your proposals for panels, roundtables and ‘meet the author’ sessions on theoretical and historiographical topics, in particular on the topic of the role of history and historians in times of crisis (upload via the ESSHC-site).
