Access to Knowledge: Joining Forces towards Community and Sustainable Publishing
LundOnline explores how libraries, publishers and academic institutions can join forces to create more sustainable, transparent and community-oriented models for scholarly publishing.
We are delighted to announce that the conference program is now almost finalised. The conference will feature keynotes by Samuel Moore on community-led scholarly publishing, and Katarina Bjelke, Director General of the Swedish Research Council, as well as sessions on:
* CoARA and research assessment
* Publishers' AI strategies
* Publishing ethics
* Consortiums' changing strategies

Whether you work with scholarly communication, licensing, publishing, open science or research support, LundOnline offers a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, build networks and discuss the future of academic publishing together.

The conference is organised by Lund University Library and is aimed at university and college librarians as well as invited publishers. Participation is free of charge, including vegetarian lunch, coffee breaks and a social event on the 15th of October.

We are pleased to announce that the registration for LundOnline 2026 has opened!
The theme for LundOnline 2026 is Access to Knowledge – Joining Forces towards Community and Sustainable Publishing. This year we will explore how libraries, publishers and academic institutions can work together to create a more sustainable scholarly communication landscape. Tentative topics include community led publishing, scholarly publishing in light of CoARA, publishers’ AI strategies, publishing ethics and consortiums' changing strategies.
LundOnline 2026 will take place on the 14th to the 16th of October at Lund City Hall<https://stadshallen.se/> in the centre of Lund. The conference is organised by Lund University Library and is aimed at college and university librarians and invited publishers.
The conference is sponsored by publishers and free of charge for participants. It is possible to attend the entire conference or just one of the days. Vegetarian lunch and coffee is included as well as a social event on the 15th of October.

Call for contribution
The conference committee invites all librarians and library representatives involved in a project, initiative, or similar activity aimed at improving library services related to scholarly publishing to share their insights during the conference on Thursday, 15th of October, in the form of a 10-minute talk. Are you interested in contributing to this session? Submit an abstract (~200 words) by June 18th to LundOnline(a)lub.lu.se<mailto:LundOnline@lub.lu.se>. Please mark your email “Library short talk”.

Library‑Led Innovations, Insights and Practices in Scholarly Communication
Are you a librarian working on a project or initiative that promotes transparency, collaboration or sustainability in scholarly communication? With the theme for LundOnline 2026, “Access to Knowledge – Joining Forces towards Community and Sustainable Publishing”, we are seeking contributions that highlight the role of academic libraries and librarians in supporting access to knowledge.
The conference committee invites all librarians and library representatives involved in a project, initiative, or similar activity aimed at improving library services related to scholarly publishing to share their insights during the conference on Thursday, 15th of October, in the form of a 10-minute talk.
We welcome submissions on topics such as sustainability and scholarly publishing, collaboration between scholarly communication stakeholders, publishing incentives, publishing practices, AI and scholarly communication, as well as other themes related to scholarly publishing and academic libraries.

LundOnline is a conference, from lunch the 14th to lunch the 16th, arranged by Lund University Library, aimed at college and university librarians and invited publishers. We hope to see participants from all the Nordic countries, which has been the case in previous years.

This year we will explore how libraries, publishers and academic institutions can work together to create a more sustainable scholarly communication landscape. Would you like to contribute?
Please contact us if you would like to share your experiences on topics related to the description above. We are eager to include a diversity of formats and speakers and this year we aim specifically to achieve an even balance between speakers representing libraries, publishers and publishing initiatives.
LundOnline will be an opportunity for all scholarly communication stakeholders to meet, discuss and present their views on current challenges related to publishing and scholarly communication. The conference is sponsored by publishers and free of charge for participants.

Hoppas ni alla mår bra och har det okej i mörkret!
Hade någon eller några kunnat lägga ut texten lite om hur ni ser på modellen Subscribe to open? Den har ju funnits ett tag, särskilt med Annual reviews. Jag har utgått från bland annat Plan S beskrivning (About - Subscribe to Open<https://subscribetoopencommunity.org/>). Två frågor:
1. Är S2O en fastslagen modell som har samma principer oavsett förlag?
2. Är S2O en modell där - när momentum nås - så övergår tidskrifterna från att ingå i S2O-modell till att ta in betalning via APC:er?
Funkar det så här: lärosätet ingår S2O och hjälper tidskrifterna att bli OA, tidskrift för tidskrift. Under tiden har lärosätet lästillgång, men inte publiceringsrätt. När hela förlagets portfölj är transformerad, så blir förlaget ett OA-förlag, men lärosätet måste börja betala APC:er för sina forskare. Förlaget öppnar upp arkivet bakåt upp för alla att läsa.
Om detta är ungefär hur det fungerar, blir S2O en svagare modell än transformativa avtal rent publiceringsmässigt, men en starkare modell gällande avsikten att bli OA.

En fråga: Bibsam jobbar vidare med vägen bortom transformationen och i handlingsplanen finns att enbart avtala om publicering i öppet tillgängliga tidskrifter.
Kommer ni bibliotek förhandla direkt med förlag om Bibsams väg innebär att ni står utan avtal med vissa för er avgörande förlag?
