This is to inform you all that in autumn 2022 there will be a new round of the popular PhD course "Theories in Library and Information Science" at Oslo Metropolitan University. The course comes with two options, as it can either be 5 ECTS or 7,5 ECTS, depending on length of written output. We hope to see many PhD students from across the Nordic region and the world. Course structure: independent studies, digital course components and a three-day in-person seminar taking place at Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway, October 3-5, 2022. Short description: The content of this doctoral study course is based on selected fields of contemporary research in library and information science (LIS). It is designed for Nordic and Baltic LIS doctoral students, but also suitable for doctoral students in LIS in any other part of the world or in related research areas. The course gives a broad presentation of research themes within LIS, aiming to enable the students to place their dissertation project in a library and information science theory and research tradition and to be able to communicate with researchers in the field and other students across sub-academic areas. Through the seminars we will discuss the relationship between library and information science as an area of research and practice. Lectures are delivered by internationally established Nordic researchers and the required literature is inclined to reputable research published in English language. The examination is in the form of an essay closely related to the student's own thesis topic. The course is given in English.
