Question: should we consider pySAML, pyff, and Satosa all together? what
about other Python-based identity tools? Yes definitely for pyff and
Satosa. Others to be discussed based on levels of community use.
Where should the code be hosted? Options discussed include Internet2,
Apereo, Apache Foundation, Commons Conservancy (previously Greenhouse),
etc. Some of these charge an overhead fee from 7%-20% (if any money is
changing hands). Note that some of these cannot handle money/donations
(e.g., Internet2, Apache Foundation)
Group generally prefers Commons Conservancy
(
https://commonsconservancy.org/) Need to do due diligence on reviewing
procedures, esp. from US gov’t (NIAID). Benn will take the action item
to work with Chris Whalen. Niels to work with Ann to make sure GEANT is
not surprised by it. Leif and Niels to contact to Commons Conservancy.
Steps
1. Benn to talk to Chris Whalen, Nick Roy re: Commons Conservancy rules
2. Niels to talk to Ann to make sure GÉANT is on board with this move
3. Leif and Niels to contact Commons Conservancy
4. Leif to set up mailing list (appropriately branded =
idpy.org)
5. Leif and Niels to draft charter
6. Announcement asking for volunteers to join the board to be sent to
the appropriate lists
