Dear IMS Affect members and affiliates,
Following up from the kick-off meeting last week, we'll continue the work with shaping the cluster through joint discussion of affect and intermediality on 9 June 10.15-12 (CEST). As most of you know, this exceptional meeting time is a one-off - normally we get together on the last Wednesday of every other month.
Attendance is possible both in person and on Zoom. I've booked Dacke (Fe3016) and the Zoom details will be sent out (again) closer to the time. I tried to accommodate those of you who expressed specific preferences, but since this is a busy period, the time is necessarily a compromise. That said, I have 10 June (15.15-17) and 12 June (10.15 or 13.15) as back-up options if it turns out that many of you can't attend on the 9th. Please email me directly (anne.holm(a)lnu.se) if that is the case.
The seminar is going to address aesthetics in relation to affect and intermediality. We'll read excerpts from relevant recent theorisations of affective responses to media aesthetics and discuss our takes on the readings in light of our own research. The aim is to more precisely articulate the cluster's approach to affect across artistic media.
To this end, I've set up a shared folder where the readings will be made available. I'll inform you when the full reading package is there, I hope in early May the latest. Besides the set seminar readings, we can all add materials in the folder as we go so that everyone may read up on things at their leisure. Alternatively, feel free to approach me with suggestions (thanks, Per B, for already doing so!).
