Dear all,

I share some notes and actions from the meeting today:

Criteria for selecting student sample for the paper:

    1. Use of nQuire and/or Choico/Sorbet (we excluded Malt2 and Gears)
    1. Age range of 13-16
    1. Sample size of approx. 40 students (it can be more than one class, do include all students from selected classes)
    1. Year 3 data (if not enough data or data does not meet the criteria, then use Year 2 data) – avoid cases of teachers who omitted stages of DT in their teaching

Timeline:

  1. 20th June: send cases (student codes of approx. 40 students) to Jake to pull out the data we need
  2. 10th July: Jake to share the dataset with Thea/Sagun for analysis.
  3. Submit paper by end of August.

@Shamim @Marcelo Milrad Do you know who to contact in Norway? It would be good to have some of their data included in the analysis.

Best,

Thea

Dear all,

Following up my previous email, thanks to those who already expressed interest in contributing to the writing of the paper.

To help you decide whether you would like to participate, I drafted an outline of the paper here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Pgjn_kLbdryA19clzjQ-JaVC_H88MneyJLREhn2g1zI/edit?usp=sharing

I also scheduled a meeting on the 30th of May, Friday to discuss and allocate responsibilities.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best,

Thea

Subject: Journal paper - pre/post survey analysis

Dear all,

Hope you are well, in the roadmap of publications doc https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a8eOpdMNTXBlxsRbRx2JRbQKVLNU0Yj1PxRFO4xqHpQ/edit?tab=t.0  I expressed interest in writing a paper about:

“What is the impact of engaging with design thinking on students' critical thinking, reflection, and empathy?”

I’m thinking of collating survey data from across partners and conduct a statistical analysis of pre/post responses considering for contextual factors such as country, school type, student performance, age, gender. This will address some of the criticism we received from mis4TEL reviewers last year regarding the paper we published and which we addressed by adding the below:

“In addition, we aim to address two limitations of this study: a) analyse data considering for the sample’s heterogeneity e.g, different ages,

backgrounds, school type, locations, enabling comparisons between e.g., different types of schools, and an understanding of the conditions under which the proposed intervention may work (or not) well”

Would you be interested in contributing? Pls let me know and I can draft a plan with activities and meetings to take this forward.

Best,

Thea
